Mortgage Loan Officer

Sterling Federal Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to assist our customers.   The ideal candidate is someone who is prepared to make a difference in the lives of customers looking to buy a home. The Loan Officer is responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio. This position represents the bank in the local community through active participation in community affairs and participates in marketing all of the bank's products and services.  The ideal candidate also has experience managing home equity loans, home equity lines of credit, mortgage refinancing and other bank products.  We offer an excellent benefit package and a positive, productive and fun working environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop mortgage loan business through marketing campaigns as well as calls to realtors, contractors, etc.
• Source, develop and underwrite new construction, interim and permanent mortgage financing requests for new and existing customers.
• Maximize bank profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income and selling of all bank products and services.
• Meet with customers to determine their needs and recommend the right loan products to help meet their goals
• Maintain an active knowledge base of all of the organization's loan products and an understanding of the qualifications required of each applicant
• Identify and recommend products that meets the customer's needs and the organization's lending guidelines
• Review active loan files each day to determine if any documents are missing or what can be done to help the process along
• Utilize professional judgement to determine which potential borrowers represent good risk opportunities for the organization

Requirements

• 3+ years' lending experience preferred
• Advanced education preferred
• Be willing and able to obtain your NMLS Loan Officer license
• Have a strong work ethic and desire to be successful
• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to network to build your business
• Strong attention to detail
• Credit check and background check required

Supervisory Responsibility    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment   This job operates in an office setting and it is a professional environment.

Physical Demands   This is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer, laptop and cell phone.
